Targeting Specific Disease....

My AI Diabetes Coach

"How AI and Continuous Glucose Monitoring
helped me become 'undiabetic' in 11 days"

Each year, millions of people are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Few are told it’s reversible. “My AI Diabetes Coach” tells the story of how in eleven short days, I took my blood glucose from diabetic to ‘undiabetic’ levels.

What’s different about this story is that my coach was a machine—an AI large language model (Google Gemini) that tirelessly and cheerfully answered my questions, as I tried to understand how my body was responding to food, exercise, stress, and supplements.

We hear about AI constantly, but surprisingly few people have actual real-world experience using it. My conversation with Google’s AI chatbot, though at times quirky and even wrong, was compelling enough that I felt it was worth sharing with others. The results speak for themselves.

The book is also a story about the importance of data. Continuous Glucose Monitoring, via a Freestyle Libre 3 sensor, provided automated 7 x 24 glucose readings with no finger sticks and no extra effort on my part.

Finally, this book is not just for diabetics. It introduces the sixteen-word Redox Health Proposition, which applies to all disease, mental and physical:

“Stress causes disease. Redox Imbalance is why. Eustress boosts resilience. Lifestyle is key. Resilience is measurable.”

This thesis is foundational to all my books, and it comes through in the questions I asked Gemini. Particularly with AI, better questions yield better results.

Whether you are a doctor, a type 2 diabetes patient, or just someone interested in AI approaches to health, I believe you’ll find the book a useful, thought-provoking, occasionally amusing read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it!

Applying the Science....

Resilience!

"The Key to Lifelong Health"

I didn’t set out to write a post-pandemic health book. The seeds of this book were sown over a decade ago. Yet its core message––stress causes disease and lost stress resilience can be recovered––couldn’t be more timely.

Each day brings new stories of health challenges presented as mysterious and unsolvable. Rising rates of anxiety, depression, long COVID, post-pandemic stress disorder, and a raft of physical and mental ailments all attest to the centrality of stress in disease and the global hit to stress resilience we have collectively experienced.

While acknowledging these effects is an important start, it’s not enough. We need a plan, grounded in the latest science, that enhances resilience and protects us from stress-driven symptoms and disease. Resilience! delivers that plan. In it, you will learn:

  • How to make a personal health plan
How to set SMART health goals
  • Why stress causes disease
  • The eight different kinds of stress
  • How eustress (good stress) boosts resilience
  • The five core resilience habits and how to optimize them
  • What redox imbalance is and why it’s central to all disease
  • The 12 Types of redox imbalance
  • How to measure and track resilience
  • Practical, actionable tips for living your best, most resilient life at any age

The Science....

One Disease: Redox Imbalance

"How Stress Becomes Disease"

“Stress causes disease. Redox imbalance is why.” From that seven-word thesis, “One Disease: Redox Imbalance” builds the provocative case that stress-driven oxidative and reductive stress, aka redox balance, is the root cause of chronic diseases ranging from aging to cancer, heart disease, diabetes, mental illness and more. Author Michael Sherer has synthesized research drawn from over 250,000 articles on Pubmed, a repository of global medical research, to explain what redox imbalance is, why you and even your doctor have not heard of it, and to make the case that redox imbalance represents a fundamentally different paradigm for understanding health and treating disease.

Redox Imbalance is the disease we don’t diagnose, measure or treat, and yet it’s driving over $1.5 trillion in healthcare spending in the US alone. Redox health, the new paradigm, promises better results at lower costs, but only if we recognize the significance of this body of important research that is relatively unknown outside the research community of redox biologists.
